Sophisticated yet comfortable - exactly what I asked for!

Lake Forest Client

Lake Forest – Delano & Aldrich

Project Details
with-pages

Designed by the venerated firm, Delano and Aldrich, this residence, once the stables to a much larger house, was converted in the 1930's. While the bones of the house are quite formal the client wanted to convey a casual sense of comfort and style. To make the home feel more inviting, we used sisal rugs, as well as cotton and linen fabrics.

After 2 years... We found it.

We never stop looking for the perfect pieces - originally we had black and white photography that the client already owned above this banquette - 2 years after finishing this room we found these fantastic botanical engravings!

Sourcing

This kitchen floor was sourced from France and reclaimed from a house that was torn down. Worn and chiseled, it adds age and patina to the kitchen. It is incredibly timeless and elegant, but more importantly, it feels original and authentic to a space that started its life as a stable.

Tying It All Together

To achieve a cohesiveness to all the spaces, we brought in notes of green throughout the house.

Inspiration

Our client had purchased this scarf in Paris, but never wore it. We framed it and used it as the inspiration for this room, bringing in the oranges, browns and tans with the furnishings and fabrics.
